Although much of the work of our parishes, schools, and diocesan programs and ministries are presently made possible through a variety of fund development efforts it is likewise recognized that the future of the Church will be built, sustained and enhanced primarily on a foundation of endowment gifts.
The implementation of The Catholic Foundation for the People of the Diocese of Bismarck now provides a vehicle in which parishioners can establish a Catholic legacy by contributing to an existing endowment fund or by establishing their own family or individual endowment fund for their favorite ministry.
Gifts may be designated to the endowment fund of your choice which may include: • Your parish Endowment Fund • The Seminarian Scholarship Fund • The Priests' Care Endowment Fund • The Catholic School and Religious Education Endowment Fund • Home on the Range Foundation • Or establish your own family or individual fund for your favorite ministry
Catholic Foundation Endowment Funds:
I. The Seminarian Scholarship Fund The cost of education for our seminarians is very high. Thanks to the generosity of God's people, we are able currently to provide for one third of the needs of our future priests though this fund. Our goal is for this fund to provide for 100% of the needs of our future priests.
II. Priests Care Endowment Fund This fund helps with the needs of our retired priests and any expenses associated with the active priests not covered by parishes.
III. The Catholic School and Religious Education Endowment Fund This fund extends a distribution each year which is paid directly to our parishes and Catholic Schools through an annual grant program.
IV. Your Parish Endowment Fund Each parish and mission of our diocese has an endowment fund established in the Catholic Foundation in which parishioners may choose to contribute.
V. Your School Endowment Fund Each school system, including the Dickinson Catholic Schools, Bishop Ryan Catholic School (Minot) and the Light of Christ Catholic Schools of Excellence (Bismarck/Mandan) has an endowment account established within the Catholic Foundation in which patrons may contribute.
VI. Home on the Range Foundation In July 2013 the Home on the Range Foundation (HOTR) merged with the Catholic Foundation. Benefactors may continue to support the HOTR Foundation through the Catholic Foundation as all funds restricted to HOTR are accounted for separately and earnings are sent directly to HOTR annually.
